History Channel Features Ultrasuede® as
a "Modern Marvel"
The History Channel "Modern Marvel" series is currently
broadcasting an hour-long program entitled "Leather" that features
Ultrasuede® as an advanced "luxurious" alternative to traditional
materials. Speculating that leather may be the world's "first man-made product," the
program traces the history of animal hide tanning from prehistoric times through
the industrial breakthroughs of the 19th and 20th centuries before turning to
modern synthetic technologies. In the final segment, the program spotlights
Dr. Miyoshi Okamoto, the Toray scientist who invented the world's first microfiber
and inspired the creation of Ultrasuede®, and demonstrates with colorful
animation how Ultrasuede® is created and processed.
"Leather" is scheduled for rebroadcast on the History Channel at
12:00 pm on Saturday, July 15, 2006. Check your local listings for other broadcast
times. To purchase a DVD of this program, visit http://store.aetv.com/html/product/index.jhtml?id=75602.
