TUA "Fashions" New Ultrasuede® Color Line for Furnishings

Toray Ultrasuede America, Inc. (TUA) will debut a new Ultrasuede® color line for furnishings at the High Point Furniture Market in April.

The new color line reflects a number of trends and influences, including the ever-increasing blurring of the home/fashion divide, as well as feedback from manufacturing experts.

“Our dealers and retailers have been asking for new Ultrasuede® colors that would complement the more adventurous direction our leather palette has taken recently,” says Cathy Lindsey, Merchandise Manager at American Leather and one of the key industry experts with whom TUA consulted. “For example, there’s a growing demand for ‘spa’ colors like light pink, horizon blue and lavender.”

Karel McKinney, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Della Robbia, adds, “Our customers are looking for more sophisticated, upper-end colors, the kind of fresher hues you expect from European aesthetics.”

Some of the colors that resulted from these and other recommendations include citron, orange sherbet, hot pink, coffee bean, claret, terra cotta and “Sahara,” a powdered-matte cocoa.

Also in response to customer requests, TUA has updated a broad selection of “classic” Ultrasuede® colors.

“Fashion is always moving forward, and we need to move forward with it,” notes Helen Corio, Sales & Marketing Manager of Residential and Contract Furnishings. “I’d describe our new color line as effervescent and invigorating but also nourishing. Working with both American and Italian interior color trend experts, we aimed to prove that high fashion can also be high comfort.”

Highlights of the new color line include:

• Pinks ranging from soft to hot and vibrant
• Purples blending into violet and lavender
• Greens now incorporating a little more yellow with “Citron” and “Green Apple”
• A New Yellow, bright and vivid as “Sunshine”
• A New Orange with all the deliciousness of “Orange Sherbet”
