Ultrasuede® Announces New Footwear Initiative

Toray Ultrasuede (America), Inc. (TUA), announces its new footwear initiative with the objective of strengthening its Ultrasuede® brand presence in the footwear market.

As part of this initiative,TUA has had its Ultrasuede® product tested and approved by SATRA® for use as both upper and insoles for footwear (click here to view Product Reports). Located in the UK, SATRA® Technology Center is a preeminent testing, research and technology organization. Additionally, TUA has engaged the services of Karla Magruder, an independent consultant, to assist with the implementation of the initiative. TUA is also working with other providers of advanced technologies in combination with Ultrasuede® specifically for footwear applications.

The proprietary manufacturing processes and advanced ultra-microfiber technologies of Ultrasuede® create footwear that offers comfort and performance. Creating a footwear climate that has excellent water permeability means feet stay dry all day. Superior abrasion resistance creates footwear that will wear well over time and improved color fastness maintains its appearance to keep footwear looking newer longer. To further advance the inherent performance characteristics of Ultrasuede® it has been combined with advanced technologies such as PrimaLoft® for superior insulation, Outlast® liners for balancing temperature and also with various waterproof, breathable membranes.

Ultrasuede® will be showcasing these products at The Global Sourcing Pavilion at WSA in Las Vegas August 5 – 8, 2004 and Northwest Apparel and Footwear Materials Show in Portland, Oregon September 1-2, 2004.
