BASED IN LOS ANGELES, Artedi Inc. has made a name for itself as a source of excitingly contemporary design. Now two of the most accomplished designers represented by Artedi have debuted collections featuring Ultrasuede.®

Five New Concepts from an Award-Winning Designer

One designer offering Ultrasuede® creations through Artedi Inc. is David Mocarski, the internationally acclaimed artist.

"I believe that, at the best level, art and usage can be seamlessly fused," Mocarski states. "Ultrasuede fits right into this because it's one of those rare materials that deliver luxury and practicality in equal measures."

In keeping with this vision, all of Mocarski's designs with Ultrasuede® make aesthetic excellence look like the natural companion of comfort and practicality. Bold original silhouettes contrast with generous expanses of soft Ultrasuede®-upholstered cushions, creating an effect that is as physically inviting as it is visually arresting.

"The way Ultrasuede plays with light and its luxurious softness combine with its washability and durability to make it a top choice for me and for my clients," Mocarski remarks.

Mocarski's collections with Ultrasuede® include the 1930s futurism of "Eclipse," the Milanese elegance of "Abbraccio," the "Hollywood" desert-style modernism of "Palm Springs" and the eminently moderne look of "Starlite." Mocarski has also designed a set of Ultrasuede-upholstered dining chairs, dubbed "Duet" because they come in two heights, tall and short.

A "Soft and Inviting" Wolf Mouth from Rick Chang Lee

"Ultrasuede is soft and inviting," says Rick Chang Lee, another designer featuring Ultrasuede® designs through Artedi Inc. In "Bocalupo," a sofa, love seat and chair collection, Lee accentuates the inviting softness of Ultrasuede® with wide bolster-style pillows that add an extra layer of plush comfort to his seating concept.

The name "Bocalupo" translates as "Wolf Mouth" but is part of the traditional Italian equivalent of the English expression, "Break a leg!" (Lee apprenticed in Milan before founding his own firm in the Bay Area. ) Not coincidentally, his design frames luxuriously thick cushions with bold wooden arms that suggest the snapping jaws of a wolf. The total effect, however, like the expressions in both English and Italian, is friendly and positive.
